9) How do I indicate I am definitely interested in registering for a course?
Answer:
After you have reviewed the details of the course offering (when it is offered, by what campus, delivery method, instructor name, credit hours, pre-requisites, etc.) via the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration Web site's search function, you will be prompted to add the course to your "bookbag." As soon as you select this option, the official registration process begins.
10) What is the bookbag?
Answer:
Your bookbag is the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration Web site's equivalent to a commercial Web site's "Shopping Cart." You may begin the official registration process only after the course listing appears in your bookbag and you click "Apply for this course." You may remove a listing from your bookbag and return to the search pages at any time.
11) After I submit my registration request, how will I know whether it has been acted upon by the campuses?
Answer:
As soon as you successfully submit a registration request, the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration Web site creates a personalized "dashboard" for you on which all actions regarding the request — taken by you, your home campus, or the campus that offers the course — are recorded and displayed immediately. (See next question for further details.)
12) What is the "dashboard"?
Answer:
Your personalized dashboard allows you to track the progress of your registration request(s). Listed on your dashboard is the name of each course for which you have submitted a registration request, the name of the campus that offers the course, the term when the course is offered, the up-to-the-minute status of the request (for example, whether it has been approved or denied by the registrar of your home school or the school that offers it), and a list of all the registration requests you have made via the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration system. Your dashboard is created automatically when you successfully submit your first registration request, is updated instantly as changes in registration status occur, and is the first screen to appear when you login to the Institutional Online Course Registration Web site.
13) What happens after I complete my registration request?
Answer:
To be allowed to enroll in your selected course, three things must happen:
- Your home university and the university that offers the course must approve your request. This process is handled automatically via the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration Web site. Step-by-step progress is recorded on your dashboard (see above).
- You must:
- print the Inter-Institutional Approval Form, which is accessible from this site's "Congratulations" page,
- sign it,
- obtain the signatures of campus administrators (e.g., your advisor) as indicated on the form, and
- submit the form to your home campus registrar.
- You must arrange to pay for the course. (See the next question for payment details.)
14) How do I pay for the course?
Answer:
You will receive billing details from and be billed directly by the campus that offers the course. If you fail to pay for the course on schedule, you will be automatically dropped from the course.
15) May I drop the course via the Inter-Institutional Online Course Registration Web site?
Answer:
You may initiate the drop process via your personalized dashboard. Course-drops, however, may have academic and financial ramifications and so, if you are not contacted by your home campus, you may wish to contact your advisor about your decision.
16) What are the registration policies of the constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina?
